Parents have the right to express a preference for any school and it is now essential that a parental preference form is completed whether you wish your child to attend the catchment area school or elsewhere.  Failure to complete the parental preference form may mean that your child will not gain admission to your preferred school, where this has been oversubscribed.

Parents of Year 2 children are sent a parental preference form at the end of January each year.  The date for completing the parental preference form is the end of February and it should be returned to Children’s and Young People’s Services, Riverside House, Main Street, Rotherham S60 1AE.  The allocation of places takes place in March.  Parents are informed whether their application has been successful or not shortly after, in April.

Where parents who live outside the area of Rotherham Authority wish to express a preference for a place for their child in a Rotherham Primary School, they should contact their Local Authority's, Children’s and Young People’s Services.
Parents resident in the Rotherham Authority who wish their children to attend schools situated in neighbouring Local Authorities should apply direct to the relevant Local Education Office.  Parents are asked to inform Rotherham’s Admissions Officer if they obtain a place for their child outside the Authority.
